These dates are not confirmed in any reliable sources, but according to Wikipedia & 45cat contributors, the first release was on US 12" in Dec. 1986 (with the blue picture sleeve or company sleeve), and the first US 7" release followed in Feb. 1987, this date confirmed by 'Oldies Series' release (opens in a new tab) (with red picture sleeve or company sleeve). Due to the 1986 debut, many releases show a 1986 phonographic copyright dates, even when released in 1987 or 1988 with new artwork.
The 7" version is a different mix than the slightly more upbeat and polished version included on the Out of the Blue album. It can be found on a small number of compilation CDs, as well as the 2021 deluxe edition of Out of the Blue.
