About
Backed by his frequent collaborators the Roots Radics, Gregory Isaacs sounds cooler than ever on the 1982 lovers rock staple Night Nurse. Whether asking for forgiveness on “Objection Overruled,” hoping love can continue on “Sad to Know (You’re Leaving),” or searching for sexual healing on the title track, his relaxed delivery is subtle and sublime. These are slow jams of the highest order—and their polished roots vibe and gentle synth flourishes only add to their quiet energy.
