“Tonight we've chosen…songs that reflect the emotion of the people that live in the night life,” Ray Price says in the intro to his first major LP, a sort of honky-tonk <i>In the Wee Small Hours</i>. This means heartbreak and loneliness, of course, but there's also plenty of seductive fun—usually in the form of lively beats and walking basslines. Songs such as "Pride" weep like ballads, but they also have upbeat energy that could make you dance till morning.
