Not even the departure of guitarist Joe Perry halfway through the recording could dull the excitement of Aerosmith’s sixth album. A cocksure display of hard-rock action, <i>Night of the Ruts</i> delivers all the greasy riffs and raunchy lyrics fans have come to expect. And while Steven Tyler’s in fine form strutting through “No Surprize” and the funky “Three Mile Smile,” it’s even more exciting to hear him go way over the top during the band’s cover of The Shangri-Las’ “Remember (Walking in the Sand).”
