About
Although Dance Gavin Dance still unfurl whiplash-inducing post-hardcore on Mothership—just witness the frantic "Chucky vs. The Giant Tortoise" or "Frozen One"—the band are more willing than ever to carve out their own unique musical path. "Inspire the Liars" inserts an electronic breakdown after several minutes of agonized vocals and vibrating guitars, while "Betrayed by the Game" takes on melodic post-rock with a raw, screamo edge. "Young Robot" even prefaces its rough-hewn technical riffage with a tranquil flute intro and helium-airy R&B vocals.
