About
Part of a growing list of archival Bill Evans releases from Resonance, Morning Glory documents the innovative pianist in 1973 with bassist Eddie Gomez and drummer Marty Morell (his longest-running trio lineup). The setting is Argentina, very soon after Juan Perón’s return from a lengthy exile. What comes across the most is the crowd’s enthusiasm—odd, perhap, as the gig took place at 10 am. Loud, sustained applause and cheering greet Evans as he finishes “Waltz for Debby” (one of the album’s three originals), only to subside when he returns to encore with “My Foolish Heart.” .
