"The MJQ's first records were for Prestige and this package is their total recorded performance or the label. It includes both the early and the later version of Vendome and it comprises all of the recordings of the original MJQ with Kenny Clarke. Ralph's New Blues was written for the author of these notes who will probably never recover from the astonishment of first hearing it."
