Marcielago

About

His history dotted with New York hip-hop connections to Flipmode Squad and the Wu-Tang Clan, among others, Roc Marciano stands tall as one of the area’s most enviable solo artists. Shrewdly independent, unflinchingly lyrical, and beat-savvy, he maintains a rare balance of street credibility and daunting rap mastery that makes his growing discography all the more compelling. Another impressive entry in his canon, Marcielago serves as his seventh album of hood intellect in a single decade. On his way out of the 2010s, he sounds far less world-weary than someone else in his position might be, delivering sharp darts and relentless rhymes over production by The Alchemist, Animoss, and himself. Statewide familiars like Buffalo boss Westside Gunn and Brownsville sensei KA respectively spit their own superlative bars on “Boosie Fade” and “Ephesians,” while Marciano digs deep to dwell on the ominous “Richard Gear.”
