About

The Beat Konducta’s hazed-out production style is in full flow on Medicine Show, No. 11…, a 28-track odyssey of grubby basslines, lean soul samples, off-kilter drums, and funky verses. By chopping up the samples into vignettes, such as the jazzy, midnight grooves of “The Ride” and the light electronics of “Stageridin’,” Madlib keeps things moving at a quick beat-tape pace; meanwhile, “Thoughts of an Old Flame” is bolstered by rugged rapper Guilty Simpson and his wistful recollections of a former lover.
