LOVELINES is a compilation album assembled by Richard Carpenter from unreleased Carpenters tracks along with selected solo tracks by Karen from her then-unreleased solo album.
Richard remixed two of Karen’s solo efforts to give a more “Carpenters” feel to them. The song “Lovelines” brings Karen’s voice more forward in the mix and the song is shortened up a bit. “If I Had You” adds a more dramatic, cold ending to the song. Richard also replaced the original bass player on "If I Had You" with Joe Osborn.
For the Remastered Classic edition of LOVELINES, Richard removed a repetitive thumping noise from the track, “Kiss Me The Way You Did Last Night” which was present in the instrumental guitar break at 2:46.
