About
“Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time…” opens Love Songs for Patriots, American Music Club’s first album after a 10-year hiatus. This one sees Eitzel and co. returning to a different, post-9/11 America, offering both words of hope (“Another Morning”) and cutting, politically oriented songs (“Patriot’s Heart”). “Only Love Can Set You Free” elegantly blends shimmering acoustic guitar, waves of distortion, and airy keyboards. In “Home,” Eitzel asks whether one can ever return home again; Love Songs for Patriots answers that, in many ways, one always can.
