About
Pegi Young has proven to be a sassy, R&B vocalist who fits right in with an all-star backing band that includes legendary keyboardist Spooner Oldham, guitarist Kelvin Holly, drummer Phil Jones, bassist Rick Rosas, and backing singers Paula and Charlene Holloway. Produced by Niko Bolas (who also produced her ex-husband Neil Young), Lonely in a Crowded Room is a sleek, contemporary roots-rock affair. Pegi wrote seven tunes here, including the jazzy and playful “Better Livin’ Through Chemicals” and the tight and seductive rocker “Obsession.” Oldham’s well-known country tune “Lonely Women Make Good Lovers” gets an ironic twist.
