About

Lifesblood is the debut EP by Mastodon. The sample at the beginning of "Shadows That Move" is from the film One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. The sample at the beginning of "Hail to Fire" is from the autobiographical film The Dancin' Outlaw by Jesco "Jesse" White. The samples at the beginning of "We Built This Come Death" and "Battle at Sea" are believed to be taken from recordings of the Nuremberg Trials.Since this album was only printed for a limited time, it has become quite rare and sought after by Mastodon fans. The limited prints come in a variety of colors, each with a certain amount produced; 100 clear, 500 red, 500 black and a second press of 500 blue and black. The EP was also re-released in August 2004 by Relapse Records.

This is Mastodon's second EP and it consists of five songs from with re-recorded vocals and newly added samples. It was released in 2001 on CD and in 2004 on Vinyl in two presses.
1st press of 1,100 copies:
- 500 copies on black vinyl.
- 500 copies on red vinyl
- 100 copies on clear vinyl
2nd press of 1,000 copies:
- 500 copies on blue vinyl
- 500 copies on black vinyl
There are also copies of Lifesblood vinyl pressed on blue swirl, pink/purple swirl, and light purple/dark purple swirl. These are apparently official, but they are very limited because they are colors that have mixed with other colors (thus making the odd vinyl). No official information about these copies is available.
