About
Letters is the critically acclaimed second solo studio album by singer-songwriter Butch Walker, released on August 24, 2004, through Sony Legacy. Widely considered a transitional masterpiece in Walker's career, the album shifts away from the high-energy alt-rock of his previous band, Marvelous 3, and his solo debut. Instead, it leans into a highly vulnerable, deeply personal, and authentic singer-songwriter style. The concept of the album was famously inspired by a literal box of old correspondence. While visiting his parents, Walker discovered an attic cache of old letters written to and from past girlfriends and family members. He used these real-life artifacts to sketch raw stories about love, heartbreak, and identity.
