About
Late Orchestration is the first live album by American musician and producer Kanye West, released on April 24, 2006. The album was recorded on September 21, 2005 in front of a live audience of 300 invited guests at Abbey Road Studios in London, England, with West backed by a seventeen-piece all-female string orchestra. The concert features selections from West's first and second albums, The College Dropout and Late Registration. The album artwork features West's mascot the Dropout Bear crossing the Abbey Road crosswalk, paying homage to The Beatles' famed 1969 album Abbey Road. The album received critical acclaim for West's performance and for the string orchestra, and has since been cited by the BBC as an influential album for its fusion of live orchestras with hip-hop, influencing the likes of Nas, Kendrick Lamar, Migos and even Sir Mix-A-Lot to perform with strings in the decades following.
