Recorded 5 - 28 October 1957 at, Switzerland.
There is no early UK stereo release for these recordings. Cat# SXL 2061 exists as German pressings only. There is, however, an early US stereo issue on London Records CS 6024, which was issued in 1958. First stereo release in the UK was on the Ace of Diamonds label with cat# SDD 214, issued in 1969.
The 1957 'La mer' and 'Faune' stereo recordings are also released on La Mer, Clair De Lune, L'Apres-Midi D'Un Faune and on a 10" LP, see La Mer / Der Nachmittag Eines Faun; the 1957 'La mer' recording must neither be confused with the 1951 mono recording that has been released on several compilations, incl. fake stereo versions (see La Mer / Mother Goose and La Mer and the reissue La Mer / Nocturnes / Clair De Lune / March Ecossaise), nor with that from 1964 (Ansermet Conducts Debussy).
