About
Santi White is used to spending a long time crafting her albums; her fourth one was largely recorded in two weeks. Working extemporaneously with Brooklyn-based DJ and Popcaan producer Dre Skull, she knocked out 10 dancehall- and Afro-Caribbean-inspired tracks designed to feel good at a time when not much else seems to. “Right now it’s hard enough to get people to listen to anything that feels heavy and dark,” she told Beats 1 host Zane Lowe. “That’s the environment every time you turn on the news. Nobody wants to feel like that all the time. But at the same time, we can't just turn off.” “Run the Road” is a vibrant track about the tedium of touring and a reminder that bad times can still make for fun music, which was her goal all along. “It feels like a summer record.”
