Kon Kan’s first single was inspired by Always On My Mind by Pet Shop Boys, also a a Hi-NRG cover of a country song, and the sample-based work of artists like M|A|R|R|S and Coldcut. The single received a 1990 Juno Award for Best Dance Recording.
Contains samples of Rose Garden / Nothing Between Us, Get Up And Boogie, Disco Nights-(Rock Freak) (UK 1979) (opens in a new tab), Go!, National Lampoon’s “Disco Hotline” sketch from That's Not Funny, That's Sick!, a synth melody inspired by Call Me, and an interpolation of Elmer Bernstein’s theme song to “The Magnificent Seven”.
Chart peaks: 5 (UK Singles Chart), 15 (U.S. Billboard Hot 100), 3 (U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Club Play), 19 (Canadian Singles Chart).
