About
Since putting on his first Heels Have Eyes event in Philadelphia concurrent with WrestleMania XL back in April 2024, hip-hop impresario Westside Gunn has fashioned himself into a full-blown pro-wrestling promoter. That should come as no surprise to the Griselda Records faithful, who’ve followed his WWE-indebted lyricism and kayfabe-derived cover art all these years. Roughly one year later, on the eve of a much buzzed-about Las Vegas installment, he drops this EP-length release that links to his 4th Rope brand. Following the secular gospel opener “FISHSCALE FRIDAY,” he slips into Flygod mode for the rugged boom-bap reboot “EINSTEIN KITCHEN.” Stripped of the guest list that hopped into the ring on the preceding <i>12</i>, he appears to holler even louder over the choral soul of the Harry Fraud-produced “GORO.” Helmed by Denny Laflare, the piano-driven “DAVEY BOY SMITH” nods to a long-departed Hall of Famer while Gunn rattles off a referential barrage.
