About
This late Toronto guitar god's mid-'90s were a scorching period—and the heat he packs into these unearthed 20-year-old blues- and folk-tinged rockers is astonishing. The urgently paced opener “Daze of the Night” immediately captures Healey's dual threats: his screaming solos and crunchy chords only abate for his earthy growl, which quakes on lines like “The devil is in my shoes again.” He's just as fiery on the tender and sweet “Baby Blues” and a stomping cover of Richard Thompson's “I Misunderstood,” both of which showcase that gorgeously rootsy voice.
