Head First is the tenth and final studio album by the Welsh rock band Badfinger, released on 14 November 2000. It was recorded over 25 years earlier at the Beatles' Apple Studios in London, but was not released at the time. Originally intended to be Badfinger's third LP under its six-album contract with Warner Bro. Record, the recordings were shelved when legal difficulties erupted between the band and the label. Recorded in December 1974 at The Beatles' Apple Studios the line up consisted of Pete Ham, Tom Evan, Bob Jackson & Mike Gibbin. Bob Jackson had joined the band originally to replace Pete Ham who had left but later re-joined. They toured the UK with Welsh band MAN in late 1974 as a 5 piece in October 1974. After the tour, Joey Molland left Badfinger and the remaining members Pete Ham, Tom Evan, Mike Gibbins & Bob Jackson recorded Head first over a two week period. This would be the final album to feature Pete Ham and Mike Gibbin, and the only album to feature Bob Jackson. Due to Warner rejecting the album in 1974, Head First would go unreleased until 2000 when Bob Jackson released the album on Snapper Music using a rough mix created during the recording session. In 2023, Jackson was able to locate the master tapes to Head First, resulting in the album being reworked to add extra instrumentation in order to enhance the songs and give the album a full mix. In 2024, Head First was re-released for its 50th anniversary, being repressed on CD and released on Vinyl for the first time. .
