"Haunted Town" was the first Effigies record, released in 1981 by Autumn Records. According to the band, they took the record back from Autumn after discovering that the label's owner was charging the band $15 an hour for time spent connected with the record. It was reissued in 1984 as a self-titled release with a bonus track, "Security", which appeared as a b-side to the "Body Bag" single that the band had released in 1982.
