About
Hate Me is packed with the kind of big rock hooks and dynamic breakdowns that have helped Escape the Fate achieve post-hardcore stardom. It’s also a killer guitar album. Unleashing an arsenal of screaming dive-bombs and rapid-fire harmonics, new axeman Kevin “Thrasher” Gruft helps the group achieve dizzying precision on “Just a Memory” and “Les Enfants Terribles,” two of the standout ragers. When they shift into sensitive mode on the sing-along folk rocker “Let Me Be,” Gruft proves his versatility, adding both gently plucked acoustic and a stirring, melodic solo on electric.
