About

Guns is a EP by the experimental music and sound collage band Negativland, released in 1992 as a replacement for the withdrawn EP called U2. The cover art reuses that which appears on U2. The EP is about the appeal of guns and their place in American history. It consists of two tracks; "Then" includes samples from Western movies and radio shows from the 1940s and 50, mixed with audio from the movie Son of the Morning Star. "Now" samples 1980s and 90s commercials which marketed guns to women, mixed with original news reports about the assassinations of John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy. The back cover of the EP has a "tongue-in-cheek" letter to U2 regarding the infamous U2 incident: .
