German synth-pop legends Camouflage—whose debut album, <i>Voices & Images</i>, went to No. 1 on <i>Billboard</i>'s dance chart in 1988—cruise into 2015 sounding as current and cutting-edge as they did nearly 30 years ago. Nearly nine years after 2006’s <i>Relocated</i>, <i>Greyscale</i> sounds neither labored nor overdone. Heiko Maile’s production keeps the kinetic energy (“Shine,” “Ride”) and ear for a gorgeous melody (“Count On Me,” a duet with Wolfsheim's Peter Heppner) of the group’s finest work, seamlessly coordinating acoustic and electronic instruments and The Babelsberg Film Orchestra’s string ensemble.
