One of the sound/synth effects heard is a low bit rate preset that was found on a Korg Prophecy synth. The title name of this tune is an homage to the factory preset called "Fire Start".
First release was 18 Mar 1996 simultaneously in the UK, via Mute in the US, Rough Trade in Germany, Delabel in France, PIAS in Benelux, Caroline in Spain, and Flying in Italy. It was reissued in North America in January 1997 via Maverick, immediately charting and getting airplay, peaking at #30 on the Billboard Hot 100 on 22 Mar 1997.
