"Fascination Street" was released as a single on 18 April 1989 in North America only. (Sources disagree about the exact date. Billboard said April 11th, a fan discography says April 10th, and the official Cure website used to say April 18th.)
"Lullaby (opens in a new tab)" had originally been designated as the first single from the forthcoming album "Disintegration (opens in a new tab)". Elektra, The Cure's record company in North America, objected to this and chose Fascination Street as lead single instead.
Given its remarkable success around the world, Lullaby was given a single release in North America as well later in 1989.
