About

Everybody Loves a Happy Ending is the sixth studio album by the British pop rock/new wave band Tears for Fear, released on 14 September 2004 in the US, and 7 March 2005 in the UK and Europe. It was released some nine years after the previous Tears for Fears studio album, Raoul and the Kings of Spain, and was the first album featuring both original bandmembers Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith together since 1989's The Seeds of Love. Work on the album began in 2000, after Smith and Orzabal ended their longstanding feud. The album was originally due for release in 2003 on the Arista label, but personnel changes in the label's management (namely the departure of L.A. Reid who had signed the duo) led to the band breaking ties with the label before any music was released. The album eventually surfaced in the US in 2004 when it was released on the New Door label (a subsidiary of Universal Music), and in the UK in 2005 on the British independent label Gut Record. The album was predominantly played by Tears For Fears (Roland Orzabal (guitar, keyboards) and Curt Smith (ba, keyboards)) and Charlton Pettus (keyboards). Orzabal performs lead vocal on ten of the twelve tracks (and the two bonus tracks), whilst Smith performs lead vocal on two tracks ("Size Of Sorrow" and "Who You Are"). Drums were played for the album by Fred Eltringham, except on "Size Of Sorrow". Additional musicians were credited as follows: Everybody Loves a Happy Ending - Trumpet: Rick Baptist Size of Sorrow - Drums: Brian Geltner; Additional guitar: Kenny Siegal Who Killed Tangerine? - Background vocals: Kenny Siegal, Gwen Snyder, Alexander Giglio.
