This 1989 box set, released to coincide with the band’s reforming, is nothing short of an encyclopedia of all things Allman. Throughout its 55 tracks, <i>Dreams</i> covers the psychedelic early days of The Allman Joys (“Spoonful”), the focused, cohesive rock of The Hourglass (“Ain’t No Good to Cry”), and, of course, the classic-era, seamlessly rocking Allman Brothers Band (“Ramblin’ Man,” “Jessica,” “Can’t Take It with You”). This exhaustive and expansive collection surveys not only the Allman Brothers but the trajectory of 20th-century rock.

Dreams was prepared from first generation master tapes, or newly mixed material, with the exception of the two Second Coming titles, which were transferred from existing acetates and digitally restored by Sonic Solutions, San Francisco, CA.
"I'm gonna Move To The Outskirts Of Town" and "Dimples" were recorded direct to two track - the occasional guitar buzz and vocal distortion are inherent in the recording.
