About
Distorted Lullabies is the band Ours' first official album. Released on the Dreamworks label on May 15, 2001, it is largely composed of melodic rock song. Ours' major label debut, Distorted Lullabie, included Sometime, which stayed on the Billboard Top 100 for five week, peaking at #31. Sometimes enjoyed some mainstream alternative radio play, while the video attained moderate MTV presence. The album was produced by Steve Lillywhite, Mark Endert, Mike Marri, and James Bray, with band founder Jimmy Gnecco playing many of the instruments himself. Both acclaimed and criticized for having a heavy Jeff Buckley-esque sound, Gnecco has alluded in early, post-debut interviews that while he spent some time with the late musician, he did not deliberately emulate Buckley's musical styling. Gnecco ha, however, written at least one song as a tribute to Buckley - Saint, which has been through several incarnations and played live as early as 2002 (then known as "Saint Down the Hall"), before finally appearing in finished form on Mercy... Dancing for the Death of an Imaginary Enemy. .
