On their first album of new material since 2010’s <i>Butterfly House</i>, The Coral sound undeniably reinvigorated. With new guitarist Paul Molloy on board, these Brits remain committed to carrying classic psychedelic sounds into the modern era; the dark, serpentine strains of “Connector” suggest a lost Doors cut, while the dirty, garage-y riff powering “Holy Revelation” could have slipped off <i>Nuggets</i> when nobody was looking. But the rhythmic pulse pushing the music along is more intense than ever before, giving The Coral a whole new sense of urgency.
