Disraeli Gears by Cream

Disraeli Gears is a Rock album by Cream, originally released in 1967. On Gatefold: 341 pressings tracked, owned by 124 collectors.

About

On their second studio album, the British power trio subdues blues grooves to create a psychedelic hard-rock masterpiece. The trippy “Strange Brew” and the rollicking “Sunshine of Your Love” blend seamlessly with lesser-known tunes to form an aura that’s best conveyed by the album cover’s fluorescent colors. Jack Bruce and Eric Clapton create haunting vocal harmonies. And where Clapton’s guitar tones are sublimely experimental, drummer Ginger Baker provides eclectic rhythms that defy easy categorization.

Disraeli Gears is the second of four studio albums (1966-1969) by Cream, from which two singles were released; Strange Brew (opens in a new tab) [May 1967] and Sunshine Of Your Love (opens in a new tab) [Jan 1968]. The album gained the band strong attention in the USA, where it reached #4 in the US Charts in 1968.
It was inducted into the "Grammy Hall Of Fame" in 1999 and ranked 112 in "Rolling Stone" magazine's '500 Greatest Albums Of All Time' [in 2003].
Recorded in the USA at Atlantic Studios, there is much division between hardcore followers as to the mono works being 'truer' to 'the sound of the times' and the quality of pressings between those of early ATCO (multi color label) and UK Reaction issues. The writing on a bar napkin of "Tales Of Brave Ulysses" for Clapton brought designer Martin Sharp (opens in a new tab) into the creation of the sleeve.
Performed by:
Ginger Baker – drums, percussion, vocals
Jack Bruce – bass, piano, vocals, harmonica
Eric Clapton – lead guitar, rhythm guitar, 12-string guitar, vocals
