About
Since forming in the mid-’00s, Rebelution have surfed at the forefront of California’s reggae scene. Their 2007 debut smoothly weds easygoing rocksteady rhythms to rock, as the roaring guitar lead on “Heart Like a Lion” attests. The title track deploys a horn section to punctuate the positivity and buoyancy of the lyrics, while hand drums bring a homeyness to the sympathetic message of “Running.” But it’s in their mellowest moments—like the acoustic guitar-laced “Feeling Alright”—that Rebelution’s relaxing take on reggae really shines.
