About

A crooner and trumpet virtuoso, Vince Jones was Australia’s leading jazzhead when this TV miniseries soundtrack came out in 1990. Grace Knight was a pop diva singing 1940s classics for the first time. The balance is just right, and these interpretations of the Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, and Hoagy Carmichael songbooks sound fresh and inventive. There’s a smoky playfulness as Jones purrs “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” and when Knight confesses that she “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore,” you hope she invites you over.
