This release was effectively a relaunch of The Chipmunks—whose last album of original material had been released in 1969—and could be considered a new incarnation of the Chipmunks "band", featuring new voice talent, including that of Ross Bagdasarian Jr., having taken over the business following the 1972 death of his father, Chipmunks creator and original voice talent Ross Bagdasarian Sr. (also known as David Seville). Later albums used different voice talent for songs, opting for professional singers.
