About

'Bustin' Out of L Seven' is the second studio album by Rick James (with the Stone City Band ). Released on January 16, 1979 by Motown owned Gordy Record. The album was produced by Rick James and Art Stewart. It contained the US R&B #8 hit - "Bustin' Out (On Funk)" a funk piece where the Stone City Band and Rick James invite all the "squares aka L7's (the boring people)" as well as the Freaks to bust out of the L7 Square(the boring place) because funk is too interesting and isn't allowed in such a place. The second single was the #35 hit - "Fool on the Street". The album peaked at #2 on the US R&B Charts (#16 on the US Charts) "Fool on the Street" sort of continued the story of the track "Hollywood" from his last album, now the main character has wrote a song and changed his name but still remembers the "face" of his teenage love that managed to fool him when they were living in the streets but now that he's "made it" he won't be fooled by fake love or charm. .
