About

The winsome '60s legend's 1979 comeback as a 30-something punk goddess was no joke. While the gravel-voiced singer had her finger on the world's perilous pulse—as expressed through the title track's klaxon synths—she showed no less mercy for her own foibles. The fateful disco pulse of "Guilt" and her sneering, tempestuous response to a lover's infidelity in "Why d'Ya Do It?" suggests a mind at the end of its tether as much as new beginning.
