Bourbonitis Blues by Alejandro Escovedo

Bourbonitis Blues is a Rock album by Alejandro Escovedo, originally released in 1999. On Gatefold: 2 pressings tracked.

About

Beginning with a heartbreaking account of intoxication—the sweeping and melancholy “I Was Drunk”—Alejandro Escovedo kicks off this late-‘90s collection of mostly live cuts and covers. He tackles The Gun Club on a sultry, slow-burning cover of “Sex Beat,” and The Mekons’ Jon Langford takes the lead vocal on a rowdy version of Jimmie Rodgers’ “California Blues.” “Guilty” provides a muscled-up rock ‘n’ roll tune fit for the diviest bars, and there’s a sweet, soft interpretation of The Velvet Underground’s “Pale Blue Eyes.”
