All tracks by DeMaio and Friedman (except tracks 2 and 8 by DeMaio). Track 7 is by Rossini but arranged by DeMaio. Manowar re-recorded this album in 2010, and released it as Battle Hymns MMXI. Recorded at Criteria Recording Studio, Miami, Florida. Mixed at the Record Plant Recording Studio, New York City. 2/3 Speed Mastering by Joe Breschio at the Master Cutting Room, New York City.

This album was one of the first epic releases on Heavy Metal, with dungeons, dragons, swords, honor and sorcery. Along with Dio they will both influence future releases of the genre.
"Dark Avenger" narration by Orson Welles (he co-operated again with the band on "Defender")
"William's Tale" adapted from Gioacchino Rossini.
The unsual scream in the middle of "Metal Daze" was performed by the chief engineer John "Dawk" Stilwell.
In 2001 it was digitally re-mastered from the original tapes, titled silver edition (opens in a new tab).
In 2010 it was re-recorded, titled Battle Hymns MMXI (opens in a new tab), the narration on "Dark Avenger" was recorded by Christopher Lee (Orson Welles died in 1985)
