About
Archaeology is the second album by the British parody band The Rutle, released in 1996. Like their previou, self-titled album, this one consists of pastiches of The Beatles' music, and is specifically intended as a parody of the band's The Beatles Anthology release. Correspondingly, many of the songs have an "unfinished" feel to them. As the "fourth Rutle" Ollie Halsall had died in 1992, he only appears on two tracks that date to 1978 rehearsal. The remaining songs are mostly sung by Neil Inne, with two being sung by Ricky Fataar and two by John Halsey. This means that some Beatles songs that were sung by Paul McCartney are given parodies sung by the Rutles' John Lennon counterpart (Innes in real life; Ron Nasty in the fictional band). Eric Idle was invited to participate, but declined. Tracks parodied by each song: Major Happy's Up-And-Coming Once Upon a Good Time Band: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Rendezvous: With a Little Help from My Friend, Good Day Sunshine Questionnaire: The Fool on the Hill, I Am the Walru, Imagine We've Arrived! (And to Prove It We're Here): Back in the U.S.S.R., Flying, Revolution 9 Lonely-Phobia: Things We Said Today, I'll Be Back Unfinished Words: Yesterday, Nowhere Man, Free as a Bird, Real Love Hey Mister!: I Me Mine, Yer Blue, Helter Skelter, The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill Easy Listening: Octopus's Garden, Don't Pass Me By, Act Naturally, Why Don't We Do It in the Road Now She's Left You: I Don't Want to Spoil the Party The Knicker Elastic King: Getting Better, Crossroads Theme I Love You: It's Only Love, And I Love Her Eine kleine middle klasse Musik: Come Together, Maybe I'm Amazed Joe Public: Tomorrow Never Know, Rain Shangri-La: Hey Jude, A Day in the Life, Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!, Lucy in the Sky with Diamond, All You Need Is Love, Magical Mystery Tour, For No One Don't Know Why: Free as a Bird .
