About
By paring down to Michael Nesmith's acoustic guitar and Red Rhodes' pedal steel, this album puts a well-deserved focus on Nesmith's songwriting. His knack for elegant, sometimes unexpected melodic turns dovetails with his poetic lyrical bent on tunes like "Harmony Constant" and "Tomorrow and Me," with Rhodes' fluid lines adding all the adornment required. In a nod to his early days, Nesmith finally gets around to cutting his own version of "Different Drum," a song he wrote pre-Monkees that became a hit for the Linda Ronstadt-fronted Stone Poneys in 1967.
