Algiers by Calexico

Algiers is an Alt/Indie album by Calexico, originally released in 2012. On Gatefold: 14 pressings tracked, owned by 3 collectors.

About

This album, which is dedicated to the New Orleans neighborhood where it was recorded, finds Calexico accentuating their dusky Southwestern mystique with smooth pop hooks. "Epic" pumps along on taut acoustic strumming, while "Splitter" breaks out into a powerful gallop among strong gusts of authoritative trumpets. The duo bring in some dark desert blues on "Sinner in the Sea," then inject a thrilling rush of strings into the ominous "Para," a horn-powered haunter that alludes to the hurricane-ravaged city.
