About

Airplay is the debut album of the AOR band of the same name. Airplay was recorded in 1979 by founding members David Foster and Jay Graydon, after having worked on many sessions between the two in the late 70. In a 2005 interview about Airplay, Graydon remarked that Toto majorly influenced the formation of their group prior to the band's formation and their debut album. Airplay contains Nothin' You Can Do About It (originally recorded by the Manhattan Transfer, written by Foster and Graydon with writer Steve Kipner) and the original recording of the Earth, Wind & Fire hit After the Love Has Gone, written by Foster and Graydon with writer Bill Champlin. In the same 2005 interview, Graydon recalled Jeff Porcaro's drum track on Nothin' You Can Do About It: "Nobody could play that groove. Jeff thought he couldn't play a shuffle. I mean it's a funk shuffle, but still a shuffle." Graydon produced this track for the Manhattan Transfer, prior to the album's release, for their 1979 album Extension. .
