A 2009 compilation first released in Japan; this 2-disc set celebrates the 40th anniversary of Carpenters on A&M Records with 40 favoured tracks. The Japanese set was released on SHM-CD. A very similar set was released a short time later in the US, South America and Europe without the subtitle.
The non-Japanese versions differ in several ways. Firstly there’s no subtitle – it’s just '40/40'. Secondly they're pressed on standard CDs and not SHM-CDs; one track, “Leave Yesterday Behind” on the Japan compilation is replaced with “Touch Me When We’re Dancing”; and “Let Me Be The One” appears in remixed form.
